Making the Equation Fit.

I had some large poster sized paper that I wanted to use to make some sample graphs for the polynomials unit. As you can see, I marked the axes with tick marks 2 inches apart so they could be seen easily.

This, of course, led to a need to modify the equations so the graphs would best fit on the paper and show all of the important features. Can you recreate the equations? Are there better values for a?
