If we are told that we have a quadrilateral inscribed in a circle with diameter 10, do we KNOW if the angle at B and the angle at D are \( 90^o \)? Because that sure would make it easier to find x.

Here's some advice for you. Is there anything true about this advice?

Snakes on a plane:

When you're flying, always take a pet snake with you in your hand luggage. The probability of there being TWO snakes on the plane is almost zero, so you will be safe from snake attack.

Staying dry at the cricket match:

Follow the example of the famous mathematician Hardy and take an umbrella with you to cricket matches. If you forget your umbrella it is more likely to rain, so if you remember to take it with you it is more likely to be sunny all day.

You won the Lottery, but not the top prize. Instead, you get to choose which way you get paid your winnings (and we're going to assume "no taxes" because you're awesome). You will be paid for 3 weeks (7 days a week) plus one more day for good measure, so a total of 22 days. You get to choose from these options:

R1

  1. You get $100 for the first day, $200 for the second day, $300 for the third day. Each day you are paid $100 more than the day before.

  2. You get 1 cent for the first day, 2 cents for the second day, 4 cents for the third day. Each day you are paid double what you were paid the day before.

  3. You get 1 dollar for the first day, 1 dollar for the second day, 2 dollars for the third day. Each day you are paid the sum of the two previous days.

Which do you choose?

Johnson (who is white) said that because Black men are more likely to be arrested for crimes than white men, her son would likely be watched more carefully by police officers, but instead of decrying this as racism, she praised it as “smart.”

“Statistically, I look at our prison population and I see that there is a disproportionately high number of African-American males in our prison population for crimes, particularly for violent crimes,” she said. “So statistically, when a police officer sees a brown man like my Jude walking down the road… because of the statistics that he knows in his head, that these police officers know in their head, they’re going to know that statistically my brown son is more likely to commit a violent offense over my white sons.

That makes that police officer smart, because of statistics.”

A parallelogram has adjacent sides a,b and the angle between them, \( \measuredangle = 45^{\circ} \).

If the product of the diagonals is \(4\sqrt{2} \) what is \(a^4+b^4\)?

Why is there only one answer even thought there is more than one possible parallelogram?
